Challenge Winner:
We are pleased to announce the winner of the REskin challenge is "Adaptive Skin" by M_RV. The challenge asked professsionals and students in the architectural, engineering, and construction (AEC) community to cleverly reskin a decaying urban building in New York City through exploiting features found within Autodesk Revit.
"Adaptive Skin" ranked the hightest among the combined judges and community votes. We'd like to thank our judges Zach Kron (Autodesk) @ buildz and Greg Schleusner (HOK) @ Pier 2.0.
"Adaptive Skin hits all the requirements and comes out with I think the most attractive option, as well as the one that pushes Revit’s conceptual design tools the furthest. M_RV is doing some very nice and a bit sneaky things with repeaters and complex components. The presentation doesn’t even show this little experiment, which is buried in the rvt file, which a a sweet little investigation of the benefits and limitations of manual placement versus automated patterning. The design elegantly resolves the need to clear the sidewalk for circulation and modulates between imposing a new look on the building as well as allowing the old to be maintained and readable." - Zach Kron
For winning the Autodesk sponsored challenge, M_RV will win a subsription to Revit Architecture! Revit Architecture is specifically built for Building Information Modeling (BIM), helping building professionals design, build, and maintain higher-quality, more energy-efficient buildings.
We would also like to thank our Media Partner Archdaily for their support
DesignByMany is a challenge based design technology community. Users post challenges to the community along with their design source files. The community can then post responses with their own source files to solve the challenge. They can also comment on the challenge and interact with other designers throughout the process.
