290 Mulberry Condominiums

In this project, also while at SHoP Architects, the big fabrication piece was a pre cast concrete enclosure. The objective was to cast real brick into concrete but to do so in a way that would use the fabrication constraints as a forming element.

In this case the constraints started with the brick half-width and how much overstep we could have from one element to the next. That number set our panel size, our window location and our pattern. The ultimate goal was to minimize the number of unique panel types and to minimize the surface area of the original master mold.

For this project we used GC as an early dev tool together with Rhino. We ventured into DP for the overall curtain wall assembly but ended up replacing that with Revit. This was the first Revit project at SHoP.
